With decades of hands-on experience and an unwavering passion for working dogs, Richard Joyce is the driving force behind Prison City Bloodhounds. Rick has dedicated his life to training a wide array of breeds—from German Shepherds and Rottweilers to English Setters and Coonhounds—but his true calling lies in the unmatched tracking abilities of the Bloodhound.

Over the years, Rick has worked alongside local police departments, county sheriff’s offices, and military units, leading his dogs on high-stakes missions involving missing persons, escaped convicts, and even supporting a high-profile homicide investigation with the Kansas City Metro Squad.

​

Rick’s depth of experience in training both dogs and handlers is matched only by his commitment to community service. His vision is simple but powerful: provide expertly trained, mission-ready bloodhounds to organizations who otherwise couldn’t afford them—and help build and support search and rescue teams that save lives.

Under his leadership, Prison City Bloodhounds has become more than just a search and rescue organization—it’s a mission-driven, community-focused organization that brings skilled canines and dedicated people together for a life-saving purpose.

At Prison City Bloodhounds, Clover serves as our Puppy Development & Placement Coordinator, playing a critical role in assessing each young dog’s personality, behavior, and potential fit within working or companion environments.

With a calm and intuitive presence, Clover fosters a nurturing atmosphere that helps each puppy build confidence and essential social skills. She works closely with the team to support early-stage manners, emotional stability, and adaptability—key qualities in both search and rescue dogs and lifelong family companions.

​

Clover’s responsibilities include:

• Guiding early socialization and etiquette

• Observing behavior to evaluate suitability for Search & Rescue work

• Helping determine which pups are better matched for service vs. pet placement

• Providing hands-on interaction and reinforcement in daily training

Her insight helps ensure that each dog is placed where it will thrive—whether serving the community or bringing joy to a loving home. Clover is an invaluable part of our team, bridging compassion with discernment to give our pups the strongest possible start.

Misti is the driving force behind how Prison City Bloodhounds connects with the world. With a strong background in animal welfare and previous board experience, she brings valuable insight and dedication to her role.

Her responsibilities span a wide range of key areas, including:

• Managing the website and social media platforms

• Creating our newsletter and outreach materials

• Communicating with community organizations and potential partners

• Serving as the primary contact for general inquiries and collaborations

Misti is our go-to team member for all things communications, combining heart with strategy to ensure our message reaches the right people at the right time. Her commitment to the mission and behind-the-scenes support help keep our community engaged and informed.
