GUIDING PHILOSOPHY
At Prison City Bloodhounds, every dog is purpose-bred with intention, care, and a future in mind. We select for temperament, physical ability, and instinct—traits that make for exceptional Search & Rescue companions.

We believe that the right match between dog and home is crucial. That’s why we’re dedicated to thoroughly screening and selecting placements where our dogs will thrive—whether they’re bound for field deployment or a loving family home.
We honor the natural bond between mother and pup. Our dogs are never separated prematurely; we ensure each one is nurtured until they are physically and emotionally ready for the next step in their journey.

Our commitment goes beyond training—it’s about integrity, compassion, and setting each bloodhound up for a lifetime of purpose and care.

Prison City Bloodhounds was founded from a deep belief that every community—no matter its size or budget—deserves access to life-saving Search & Rescue resources. With decades of experience working with a wide variety of working dogs, our founder Rick Joyce began training bloodhounds to assist law enforcement and volunteer SAR teams across the country.

What started as a personal mission has grown into a national effort, with purpose-bred bloodhounds, hands-on training programs, and an all-in team approach that includes not just handlers, but trainers, trail runners, veterinarians, legal advisors, and community supporters.
From aiding in high-profile investigations to helping locate missing persons in rural communities, our dogs and our team have made a measurable impact—and we’re just getting started.
OUR HISTORY
Stud Services with Purpose
As part of our commitment to preserving and strengthening the working bloodhound lineage, Prison City Bloodhounds proudly offers stud services with our exceptional male, Buster.

Buster exemplifies the very qualities we prioritize in our program—health, temperament, and purpose-driven potential. Health-tested and proven, Buster carries the strong physical conformation and stable demeanor ideal for producing the next generation of K-9 partners.

We welcome collaboration with ethical breeders who share our dedication to responsible breeding and breed preservation. All prospective pairings must provide up-to-date health clearances for their female, and all matches are reviewed carefully to ensure compatibility in temperament and structure.
As with everything we do, this offering is guided by our mission: to improve the bloodhound breed, support working dog programs, and ensure the future success of every pup—whether for Search & Rescue or life as a devoted companion.
